Applications

Thank you for contacting Saving Grace and Her Furry Friends Rescue and choosing to adopt a pet! The decision to adopt a pet is an important one which we take very seriously. Before submitting the application please take a moment to read the information below and carefully complete the adoption application in its entirety.

In order to adopt a pet from Saving Grace and Her Furry Friends Rescue you must be at least 25 years of age, be able to provide references and identification, consent to a home visit, and pay the adoption fee. An application MUST be filled out before a meet and greet is possible. We are a foster based rescue, there is no facility where all dogs can be met at once, therefore, you will be going to the foster parent’s home.

All of our pets come spayed/neutered, up to date on vaccinations, microchipped, heartworm tested, dewormed, receive a dental if necessary, current on flea/tick and heartworm prevention, and treated for any ailments found upon veterinary examination. The adoption fee covers a portion of these services, and makes it possible for us to continue rescuing animals.

An application does not obligate you to adopt, nor does it mean you will definitely be chosen for the dog.  Your application can be transferred to any pet in our rescue. You will receive a confirmation e-mail once your application is successfully submitted. Please understand that due to the volume of applications we receive, we are unable to contact all applicants. If your application is considered a good fit for the pet you are interested in, or even a different pet, a volunteer will contact you within 5-10 days to set up a meet and greet. If you would like to transfer your application to a different pet a new application isn’t necessary, just e-mail to let us know.

If you are interested in adopting a puppy we make sure that they will not be left alone for more than 3-4 hours at a time at most. Young puppies will develop anxiety and it makes it more difficult to train/housebreak when left for long periods of time. We also make sure you are in a home, preferably with a fenced in backyard for large breed puppies or high energy dogs. Puppies are very active and need a place to run and burn off all that energy. They may also bark or howl a lot and can be noisy, so apt living for a puppy is not recommended. When we review the application we make sure your lifestyle and living situation fits the needs of the dog you are applying for and if the dog will fit into your life. It’s not a matter of it being good or bad but doing our best to ensure the adoption is successful. We don’t want anyone disappointed and for it to be a positive experience. A dog a little older or a lower energy level may be fine for a townhouse or apt and a large or very active dog would do best in a fenced in yard or with someone who leads a very active lifestyle. It just depends on the needs of the dog, your lifestyle and what you’re looking for by bringing in a furry friend into your life and home.

We also prefer to adopt to the Southeast Florida area, we will make exceptions depending on the circumstances, but local adopters will be given first consideration. We will always do a Home Visit and/or FaceTime visit. This is another safety feature for us to ensure that one of our dogs is going to a safe, clean, well kept environment. We also want to make sure your yard is secure.

The application is our way to determine if the dog you are interested is right for your lifestyle and that you can meet the needs of the dog. We make the application comprehensive to cover all basis. Thank you for taking the time to undergo this process and your eagerness to adopt a pet from us. We really appreciate it and look forward to you joining the Saving Grace family.
